You may be able to find a niche that has been unfilled, but Southerners tend to think it is wrong to clothe pets. If you can make the clothing functional, such as neoprene camoflauge for hunting dogs, you may find some success. And there are plenty of wealthy housewives and sorority girls that have nothing better to do than dress up their pets. I would try selling your line to local pet shops. That way you can keep your initial investment low.

That camo isn't the real camo that hunters use. The camo hunters use is licensed by companies such as Mossy Oak and RealTree. If I were you, I wouldn't take on the risk of renting a shop to sell your items. I would develop a business plan to market the line to local pet shops, especially those locally-owned, pet grooming shops, and gourmet dog biscuit stores. But I don't know a lot about retail, especially pet apparel.

I think there would be a market in the burbs, and in East Memphis (upper scale private school demographic). I would concur with the prior poster to avoid a physical store and focus on either word-of-mouth/internet distribution or going through established pet suppliers. If there aren't pet suppliers that meet your standards, then you might want to consider filling that niche . . .

I found the website for these 2 brands that you mentioned and got your point, you just gave me a great idea to create a new water/wind proof vest product line for hunting dogs using the same fabric.
Thanks a lot.

Mossy Oak is a Mississippi-based company out of West Point. They have a big store there.
