Just got back from Mississippi
Hi all,
We just got back from our tour of MS and found it beautiful! It wasn't at all what I was expecting. I couldn't believe how lush and green it was, so many trees!!
Now we just need to figure out where we want to live. Madison is quite the pretty suburb but packed with people. We looked around Oxford and it was a nice college city and we ate at the local BBQ place. The food was great.
I just wanted to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the beauty of your state and it's not at all what people conceive it to be!
PS I think I gained 10 pounds from all the delicious food! Time to hit the treadmill....

Yes Mississippi is pretty. though I've been here far to long--I'm getting out when I can. The thing about Mississippi is that it is comfy and cozy but to the point its almost asleep. And that's great for a get away but no way to live.

I must digress, gently, with this statement as a whole. Mississippi is not at the point of going to sleep. Some areas of our state might be holding to this tradition, but there are many areas that are thriving, growing, and re-inventing themselves so they can compete on a global market.
Wifen, I am so very glad you loved our state. Many people are beginning to give us a second look, and I am sure they, like you, had heard dreadful things about us.
Yes, you will find that we tend to take our food pretty seriously down here and there are a bunch of great cooks all over our state.
welcome to our beautiful state.

I'm moving to Aberdeen from Michigan and I'm moving into an apartment. I'm going to stay for one year and if I like it, I will buy a home there. So far, I visited recently and I loved the friendliness of the people. I mean everyone, too.

Haha, you're in the suburbs of Memphis and it's "asleep?"
You'd probably explode around Bogue Chitto-Brookhaven where I was born and raised. There's nothing really wrong with a good nap, either.
