I'm looking at moving to a place a little more rural. 30 miles plus north of the coast. Thing is looking at the stats for most areas I'm seeing 60-70% black population. Nothing against black folks, just looking for an area a little more white where I may fit in better. Any suggestions?

Really? That area of the state is pretty white. What were these areas that you found?

I don't think PITBOSS is going to be happy ANYWHERE he lives.

Oooh, here's an idea: Utah.

Sounds like he just doesn't want to be in the minority, which is common. Lots of people of all races tend to want to stay close to each other where they are part of the majority (ever hear of China Town? Little Italy?). Other people thrive surrounded by a mix of cultures. There's also a big difference between looking for an area that is "a little more white" than a true lily-white area (think rural Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, etc.)

Was looking at the stats on this site for Lumberton and surrounding areas. Poplarville doesn't sound too bad. I'm going to be taking a drive and looking at a few areas. Have a place in Carriere I'm going to look at anyway.

Whether you're black or white won't make much difference to the rattlesnakes. It is my experience that they surmount both flavors of people in that area.

Yes, and be aware that nearly 7 people each year die from wild snake bites. And if you are bit your odds of surviving are only 499 out of 500.

Yeah, I was aware that rattlesnake bites are rarely fatal. They HURT like hell, though. And they're scary.
Southern MS, Southern AL, and the panhandle of FL has lots of them. So many that it is wise to carry a weapon of some sort while working on the remote power lines in that area.
