I find it fascinating a significant percentage of Mississippians had their ancestry as "American" in the 2000 Census. These are people whose ancestors came to America earlier than most Americans. I'm obviously excluding the American Indians (hence Native American). They come closer to being real Americans, so in a way you are saying it is better to be less American.

Do you suggest there is no truth in that view? Are people not from there simply misinformed?

People can be ignorant. That does not make problems go away.
I still think it is worth considering why Mississippi is on the bottom of many (the OP wrote every, which is probably an exaggeration) quality of life studies. Would you argue argue those lists are simply subjective, bias and useless?

Because it's a poor state, but poor doesnt equal trash, although your points are well taken. I just dont see the need in classifying an entire state as worthless and trash, anyone who does that IMO, is trash.
To answer your question, yes these lists are in a way quite useless. People can choose where to live, and how to live their lives without them.

Poor only refers to having little money and/or few possessions. One can consider a wealthy person trash, as in worthless. Do you only judge people by how much money they have? In that case I can assure you old money will look down on you.
Are you trying to sound like a snob?
