Question Looking to relocate to the Hattiesburg area..

I am looking to relocate from Chicago to Hattiesburg in the next couple of months and I having trouble finding a lot of job opportunities in the area. I want to know if anyone knows of companies or places hiring. Some of the type of positions I am looking for administration (hospital/office), customer service, or human resources.
I am also looking for a good daycare in the area for my son. I definitely want somewhere that offers a excellent amount of things to do for infants.
If anyone has any info for me please drop me a line....
Thanks

Check the local paper online classifieds thru CareerBuilder at Hattiesburg American - www.hattiesburgamerican.com - Hattiesburg, Miss.
Big employers are Wesley Medical and Forrest General Hospitals and The Univ. of So. Miss. Hudson's Salvage is a big operation and there are tons of medical offices. Good Luck!

Thank you for the information. I have been looking at some apartments on line is there any particular property someone has had a good experience at? Some of the properties I have picked Piedmont Park, Park Pines, Point O Woods...

I myself would avoid the area around Point O Woods. Some of the complexes around the campus and particularly that area are a little sleazy. There are many very nice complexes as well--I would use a realtor and make it clear what you want and don't want. Interview some tenants.

Point O Woods is not a bad apartment complex. I know the resident manager there and she maintains the apartments quite well. Piedmont Park and Park Pines are both really nice, fairly new, but they are income based apartments. They are both owned by the same company and i think the max income for a one person family is 18k. There are some nice duplexes on Richburg road that run about 800 a month that are two bedroom and I know they have openings. Their address is 734 richburg road and a man owns the complex, its small so its great for a family. Forrest General is the largest employer in the Pine Belt and I have worked for them, its a great work environment. They pay well too. The next largest employer is USM. USM just got a new president and there are a lot of administrative positions open, so I would definitely check there.

Another place you might want to check is Walmart.com. Walmart.com has a large customer service center in Hattiesburg and they are always hiring. I worked there as well and I know they pay pretty well too. There number is 601-554-1800 or 601-554-1701 is the number to the Human Resources department.
