Default Oxford

Can anyone tell me about things to do in Oxford. How is the restaurant selection? I've heard that there isn't much to do there. I'm still trying to make my decision on a graduate school and I am considering Ole Miss. I'd probably want a 1br apartment in a good quiet area for less than $500/month rent. How are the non-student apartments in the area?

Thanks!

there is plenty to do there, keep in mind that UM is consistently voted one fo the top party schools in the nation. there are also plenty of non-partying things to be found. as to rent, i can't tell you a thing there as i have never lived in Oxford though i have been there hundreds of times for work.

There is much to do in Oxford, despite it's size. Sports, Dining, Arts, Festivals, and more.

Visit the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau for more information.

I just realized that Bank of America does not have any branches in Mississippi. Are there any decent banks or credit unions in Oxford? I suppose I could do without a branch, but it's always nice to have an ATM without fees.

Regions Bank is located in Oxford. I have no idea if it's good or not but it's said to be the 10 largest bank in the U.S.

Are there car hiring places in Oxford? I'm attending Ole Miss in the fall on exchange and want to plan some travel via car whilst I am there.

We call them Car Rental agencies.
Yes, there are:
Enterprise & Rent-A-Wreck (not as bad as it sounds). You can find particulars on the Internet.

PS: "whilst" is not a word usually used in American English. But then "y'all" is not a word that you probably use.

At this point I think you know I'm either English or Australian! Just make sure you get the next guess right :P

If you're in Oxford with an English or Australian accent, you may never want to leave. Everyone loves an English or an Australian accent and I would imagine your social life will be completely booked.
