I lived in MS for two years, I never saw a Klan parade or cross burning. However, I have experienced an attitude towards me as a white person by inner city blacks in Jackson. There does seem to be a vast difference between blacks in the urban areas as oppossed to blacks in the suburbs and country. I also noticed that blacks and whites don't mingle socially like they do in the northeast. Inter-racial couples are becoming more common here. I only ever saw one inter-racial couple in MS and that was in Biloxi, the coast is very different from the rest of the state anyway. Personally, I feel there is racism in one way shape or form everywhere.

This stuff still happens in Mississippi?!?!?! I really wanted to believe that Mississippi has been unfairly portrayed in a bad light because of its history, but maybe all the negative portrayals over the years are justified...

Don't know how accurate this is and for sure its a few years old, but Mississippi didn't even make the list.

Wow, those stats make it look even worse - Mississippi is the only state that did not report any hate crimes...

I am not at all surprised, those southern states_and especially MS_ are under such scrutiny they must be bending over backward to avoid the spotlight.

Oh, yeah. Every reporter KNOWS that he had better not report what REALLY goes on in Mississippi. And besides, there are people like North Pulaski and jonesreed who know all about it and will inform the poor, misled public.

And the NAACP and other black organizations? Well, everyone knows they are too afraid to report what really happens here. They leave it up to the above mentioned to report it while the NAACP officials and reporters cower in the corner.

Oh, yeah

In that case, what really goes on in Mississippi, and why is the NAACP afraid to report it?
