In would recommend at the following:
- A day on the Coast. Bay St Louis and Pass Christian are quiet, charming, and picturesquely located overlooking the water. Further down the Coast, downtown Ocean Springs is beautiful, artsy and lively with restaurants as well as the Walter Anderson museum of art, a local artist who drew his inspiration from the nearby barrier islands. In between these towns is Biloxi, busy with casino hotels.
- Natchez - more antebellum homes than any city in America. Small and quaint, Natchez has beautiful views of the Mississippi. From there you can take the Trace for a pleasant 2 hour drive to Jackson. It does not compare to the Blue Ridge parkway with its incredible mountain views. The Natchez Trace however is lovely and makes for a nice drive.
- Jackson - Jackson can be a stopping off point including a day trip to nearby Vicksburg, with its beautiful military park, loaded with monuments and interesting history. In downtown Jackson you can check out the newly restored Old Capitol and state historical museum, a very nice art museum, a jazz place called Underground 119 and a blues joint called 930 Blues. There is also charming restaurants in the Fondren area and shopping at the Renaissance in Ridgeland.
- From there drive to picturesquenOxford and enjoy the Square its many shops and restaurants, the scenic Ole Miss campus, and the home of William Faulkner. Oxford can be a stopping off point for a jaunt over to Clarksdale to hear some blues and the just opened BB King museum in Indianola. You can also an hour in the other direction and check out the modest birthplace of Elvis in Tupelo.

Natchez is beautiful & full of historical sites. So is Vicksburg.
Staying on Hwy 61, head up to Indianola. The world-class BB King Museum & Delta Interpretive Center is a must-see. There are some fun places to eat, drink & sleep nearby & friendly folks. www.bbkingmuseum.org, www.thebluebiscuit.com. The Hwy 61 Blues Museum in Leland, minutes off Hwy 61, is also a very cool stop.

Greenwood, MS has Viking Range Corp and they have really gotten a renaissanace going in downtown Greenwood. There are wonderful restaurants, a fabulous hotel, the Alluvian, wonderful bookstore, art gallery, Antiques, Viking Cooking School & store... worth a stop for sure.

Clarksdale is home to Hopson Commissary & Lodging, the Shack Up Inn, Morgan Freeman's Madidi & Ground Zero Blues Club and many authentic "juke joints," if you're into the Blues. They also have the Delta Blues Museum.

from there I would head to the eastern part of the State. Oxford, GORGEOUS, dozens of great restaurants, a world-class bookstore, Square Books, and the Ole Miss campus, voted one of the most beautiful in the nation.

Tupelo-Home of Elvis!!

The northeast corner is the part of the state with which I'm the least familiar but I know the scenery is beautiful.

Memphis is Mississippi's largest city, we don't care what the folks from Tennessee say, and is definitely worthy of a stop. The Peabody, BBKing's Place, the Bourbon Street atmosphere of Beale Street.

Have fun! Would love to hear where you end up!

We will share our visit! Like many places, there is just so much to see and so little time to see even half of it. I am looking forward to standing at the crossroads, some great greasy spoons and juke joints.
