My "ex" was from Holly Springs so I've been there many times. There are a few good areas but most of the town seems ghetto to me. I know several people who graduated from Holly Springs HS yet couldn't read well enough to fill out a job application, that should tell you something about the public schools there. The whole town made me feel depressed. Holly Springs is like 75% black, and most areas are 100% black. The whites live on the outskirts in areas like Red Banks and Byhalia, and many of them are struggling to get by. Marshall County as a whole just didn't appeal to me.

dollhands is on a distinguished road
I can't wait to leave N MS. People, most anyway, are nice but no more friendly than people in Mobile, AL/Pensacola, FL area. Prices of land/houses ok, most schools are not very good, tho hear Desoto Co and Oxford have good ones. Tate Co schools are being slowly ruined, North Panola Co. not to good, but ones in Batesville are, I'm told. Am very tired of the black/white issue that always, always comes up in Memphis/Shelby Co, TN, Desoto, Tate and Panola Co areas. As for the justice system forget it. One county (Desoto) robs you, one (Tate) has judges that aren't even schooled in the law (you don't have to be a lawyer to be a judge) and will say and do whatever they want in "their" courtroom (there a NO minutes taken). I would check out down Hwy 49 and 98 toward Mobile, AL. Seems to be nice area. Maybe Greene/Perry Co or around. But stay away from North Mississippi. As for me can't wait to get back to Mobile/Pensacola area. I would go by self if other half would agree to visits on weekends!!! Oh yeah I/we have lived all over too (retired military) and this is the LAST place I would suggest people to move too. Who knows you might like Tipton Co, TN or that area. Also East TN down toward AL/GA state line nice areas too. Good luck P.S. I was born and raised in Memphis so I do know this area - what it was like when I grew up and what it's been like since I've "seen" the world and there is LOTS better places but my parents won't leave and that's the 2nd reason I'm still here.
