Hi everyone....I just registered for this site after googling information on relocating to Mississippi. My state is getting worse by the week and although I have a good job, I want out. I was stuck on moving to the gulf coast of Florida after a long vacation in the area, but when i searched Mississippi, i forgot about FL right away! I loved what i saw, I feel like I should have been living there already. However, I don' t know much about the geography of the state and would like some information on good counties or areas, i would like to stay out of cities. I'd like to get info on schools. If there's anything else I would need to know it would be greatly appreciated.

Good jobs are hard to come by, at least in most fields. And what you do for a living can make a huge difference in how happy you are.

What kinds of skills are you bringing with you?

Hi, I know they are hard to get everywhere....lol. But I have a county job as a public safety dispatcher. Other than that, I have administrative skills, secretarial, accounting. Typical office stuff.

See if you can get free to come and visit,; sniff around and see what you can find for yourself.
My first choice would be Ocean Springs, MS........heh, heh; you'll probably end up just going AWOL from NJ and never leaving. But see if you can land a job first.

On the other hand, keep in mind I am probably a lot older than you and as a result a lot more conservative. When I was young I ran off willy-nilly to wherever I wanted, and maybe that's the right thing to do. I know one thing; I sure wouldn't want to trade the adventures I had!

Shucks! Grab your toothbrush and go for it!

Mississippi doesn't really have congested urban areas like NJ. When you say you are wanting to stay out of the city, how small a town did you have in mind and what is it so far that you like in your readings about Mississippi? We could suggest towns with 2,000 people or 40,000 people, etc.
