Question Stennis, MS

My husband might be taking a job at Stennis,

If anybody can tell me, where are good locations to live in and where are places that we should avoid.

I really appreciate any help in this matter.

You will be in Hancock County. Personally, I would say to stay north of 90 for sure..even north of I-10. South of I-10 is low lying and gets alot of damage from hurricanes. Diamondhead is a nice area.

Diamonhead (D.H.) is the place for you - only a few miles to Stennis. D.H. is organized as a Property Owners Association (POA). We have about 6000 residents, about 50-60% working people with children. Years ago it was a gated community. The POA owns most of the streets, the country club, two golf courses, tennis courts, community pools, marina and private airport. POA monthly fees to maintain above will rise to $70/mth on 1/1/08. Security is provided by POA and Hancock Sherriff Dept. Schools are Hancock County - good ones. Fire/sewer/water are here but not POA owned. There is a commercial area at the front -just north of I10 - also not owned by the POA. There are 3 churches, a grocery, hardware store, drug store, dry cleaner, restaurants, banks, liquor stores, doctors & emergency health center, etc. Nice housing is available starting about $150,000 up to $1,000,000. Some of D.H. flooded out with Katrina. Stay on high ground! Good luck.

My parents live in Picayune, Ms. and my suggestion is live any where but in Nicholson. Bad crime and rundown neighborhoods. Stay within the city limits.
Westchester Heights is a nice countrysuburb.
Wishing you the best...if you have any specific questions just e-me at Moderator cut: no personal info, please - use direct message or email feature
