Default Moving to Olive Branch!

Excited about a move to the Olive Branch, MS area! I am a teacher and will hopefully gain employment with one of the schools in the Desoto County School District. I'm prior military and used to change, my kids on the other hand are not! I'm a little apprehensive about the schools in the area. In the past, my kids have been able to attend school wherever I teach, but we're coming from a very small school district, and I don't think I will have that option in Desoto County. We really like the Olive Branch area and plan to buy a home there. Any information concerning the schools/communities there would be very helpful.

Schooldigger.com ranks the schools by test scores. In DeSoto, I think Lewisburg, DeSoto Central, Center Hill, and Hernando rank the highest.

It will be a refreshing change that you as well as the kids are going to love. Desoto county is growing in a major way. I am so excited for you. I've lived in Olive Branch and Southaven which is right next door to Olive Branch. If you love the small town country feel Olive Branch is great. I'm a shopaholic who loves to shop and dine out so Southaven works for me. The people in Desoto county are fantastic, the nicest folks on the planet. Best wishes and good luck with your move.

Check out greatschools.net to see the difference in local school ratings (they vary drastically). If you do get a job working within any of the Desoto County Schools, then YES your child will be able to attend ANY school you choose within the Desoto County School District. Unless something has changed recently, you won't be restricted to the actual school district you live in or the one you work at.
