Gee, the 1950's must have been a popular time to be born as I was too....and I also remember incidents which occurred in Mississippi and a lot of other states too. I also remember the hate groups and also know that the hate groups and racial tensions existed in many states and hate groups still exist. One of the largest and most active was in Indiana and several splinter groups still exist in Indiana (the heartlands of America).

Your own state still has quite a few hate groups according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. My state also has hate groups but I fortunately am not a member and can overlook the fact that the history of America included many things we might not be proud of.

But the history of a state doesn't prevent me from visiting or stopping in a state just because I was born in the era during which racial events occurred in the state. Or, perhaps young people think much more differently than I, and, I'm too old to understand your comments.

The SPLC is a group of ambulance-chasers. They are in the business of overreacting to conservative interest groups.

Now I understand. Your parents are judging Mississippi by what went on in the 50's? How sad to be stuck in the past like that. So there were no problems in Louisiana back then? How do you know if a place has changed if you don't experience it first hand?
