Default Relocating from West Virginia

Looking at buying some rural acreage and home somewhere a little ways out from Oxford, such as in Water Valley. I have 2 adopted sons of mixed race heritage. One is 10 years old, Eskimo/white, and the other is 4 white/black with beautiful olive skin. Would like any information or opinions from folks out there who know much about the Water Valley area or any rural areas within 20 miles of Oxford. I would hope that my boys would be accepted, and us as a family as well. Is it as hot and muggy in the Oxford, Water Valley area as it is in Hattiesburg and further south in MS? Also, are mosquitoes pretty bad?

Yes, it is hot & humid from late May to Oct. Generally mild winters. Not the kind of winters I remember from growing up in W.Va.
Mosquitoes are bad in our town (Hernando)but they don't do a lot to control them
I think for the most part your kids will not have any problems, but we have our share of red necks that are still fighting the Civil War

Frank1938: Thanks for the info. I would assume the mosquitoes are just as bad a little north of Oxford so we will have to find some way to deal wtih them. Are there any things you can use short of bug spray? I heard that burning some of these gizmos you can buy in Walmart and elsewhere can help. I guess the light smoke and odor may have some effect. As for the Civil War, unfortunately we have several states that have some idiots still fighting it.
