Need help to determine backyard property line
My lot has an unusal shape. It is almost like a triangle except for a dog leg on one side. One side goes back about 150' to a pin (point A) and then "dog leg" into the property, at a slight angle, for another 80' to a back pin (Point B). From point B, the property line then returns in a straight line to the front of the property. Because of set back requirements, it is important to know if line Point A to point B is considered a back property line?? Any comments would be appreciated, thanks

I would think City Codes or even your surveyor, if you know who it was, could tell you that...but probably the city planning or permits department, since they have a right to an easement in most communities.

We did this one year and we called the city who sent someone out to survey our property. There was a cost, but I don't remember what it was. Worth whatever I think just to make sure.

Thank everyone for the response to my question. I did resolve the proplem with the help of the city engineer. It was agreed that, while an unusal shape lot, it should be considered as a back line and therefore require a set back larger than if it were a side line (thirty-five feet). cmcdon
