I'm planning to sell my house through FSBO. I have a question about how to place the FSBO sign. I noticed that people place the signs with arrow pointing to direction of the property at intersections leading to the property. The signs was on other people's lawn. I wonder if I need to talk to the owner of the lawn about the signs so that they won't be mowed down?

Thanks in advance.

Most streets and roads have right-of-way (ROW) that extends several feet past the edge of the road. This is where they stick stop signs, fire hydrants, sidewalks, etc. Usually this strip is maintained by the adjacent land owner, but owned by whoever owns the road. There may be local laws governing signs placed on road ROW.

If you put your sign immediately adjacent to a Stop sign or such you should be ok. But be sure to keep your sign maintained and take it down when no longer used.

To be a good neighbor I'd ask politely first or your sign may disappear the next time that area gets mowed.
