Default Moving from California to Columbus.MS

Hello all Im moving from California to Columbus.MS area in Jan 2008. I know im in for a HUGE culture shock. Is there anything else I should be aware of. Im just wanting a heads up of the area before I get there. Anyone who lives in Columbus please tell me everything Good & Bad.

"Culture shock" is a mild way of putting it. It's up to you whether you like it or not, but I will tell you that be ready for everyone to be super nice, very up front about everything, and wanting to talk about everything. Mississippians are among the sweetest people I've met, and I've been all over the US. You certainly will meet some people you wouldn't see in California, but that's part of the state's charm.

Go in with a good attitude, and you'll love it. Try and get involved with the community and mingle; most people will introduce themselves or if you greet them they'll be willing to help you meet others. I really did enjoy my time down there, still have some good friends who I keep in touch with.

Being that I was raised in Calif myself and tried living in MS for 8 miserable months, all I can say is WHY????
