You will probably need to go to Hattiesburg or Meridian to sate your desires. Sorry, but that is about all I can offer. Laurel is growing somewhat but not that fast.
BTW, welcome to City-Data. Hope you stick around as a member.

Myke Foot I think Sassygirl has it right. I am not real familiar with anything entertainmentwise in Laurel unless there is some night life I don't know about. It is a small town. However, in Hattiesburg there are live bands, theater, the university orchestra, Paul B. Johnson State Park and the Rails to Trails. Google them. Also on Thursday the Hattiesburg-American has a section on happenings and activities. Laurel does have the Lauren Rogers Museum. Moderator cut: no links to competing websites, please Good luck!

I live close enough to say that the other 2 posters are correct. There is a decent bit to do with USM being in Hattiesburg.

What you can do in Laurel
Myke, we have a great museum on the corner of N 5th Ave. and 8th St. The
library is on the corner of Beacon St. and Commerce. The Big 10 Waterpark (for camping, fishing, boating) is about 10 miles west of Laurel off Hwy. 84 W. We have several golf courses and if you like tennis, you can check out the Sportsplex. There is also a bowling alley. You could go to a play at the Laurel Little Theatre and the Magnolia Center usually has some kind of entertainment there (rodeo, gospel sings, I don't even know what all they have to offer.) If you like small town life and are looking for rest and relaxation, Laurel is the place to be. Enjoy!!!

Visiting
There is the Alamo Bar, always has live bands on the weekends. It is located in the Sawmill Square Mall. Signature's Coffee House has live bands. You should definately visit The Hotel Alice in Ellisville, its a beautiful historical landmark, with great food! Ask the locals about the hidden restuarants with good ole soul food cooking!
