Shreveport seems to have more in common with Texas than it does with south Louisiana.

Still Louisiana to me.

Although, Lafayette and Breaux Bridge are cool towns.

Not to mention places in MS I wanna see, like Oxford, Pontotoc, Eupora, Starkville and Columbus.

Desert Kid is right. Shreveport knows it is in Loosiana. The south is a complex cohesive region. Northeast Texas and Northwest Louisiana are ARK-LA-TEX. Just like the Port Arthur-Beaumont-Orange and to a lesser extent Houston in Southeast Texas has cajun and creole themed places along I-10. No different than North Mississippi and Memphis Tennessee.

Starkville and Oxford are hip. Europa is typical rural Mississippi city so it's cool. Columbus and pontotoc are considered arm pits in Mississippi. But they are both in Mississippi so they are cool as well. When going to Mississippi State in Starkville I visited Columbus often. Also I took backroads from starkville thru Clay county and Houston Mississippi to hwy-15 on to Ripley to visit girlfriend. So I also drove through Pontotoc often.

I'm going to be visiting Oxford in a few months, and taking a look at surrounding towns and Memphis.

So, yeah, it's not exactly going to be like the Vicksburg/Natchez trip last time around.

Perhaps Politico Magazine would not have found Mississippi so lacking if Mississippi had not voted against Obama and were not quite so red.
Fact is, we like it here. And since I have visited every state but Alaska I think I am more qualified than some journalism major.

Politico doesn't count. Read a few of their articles and see if you disagree. They attack Republicans and canonize Democrats and Democratic programs.

That's "Eupora". And I don't think of Columbus and Pontotoc as "armpits". What's makes you say that?
