Comment - the Natchez Trace has a couple more downsides - IIRC it's posted at 50 mph, very low considering, and is pretty much a speed trap.

Beyond that, look out for deer, particularly morning and evening!

Vicksburg was nice last time I was there. Any restaurant information I could offer would be years out of date.

Port Gibson was one of the few towns to survive the War Between the States more or less intact, lot of ante-bellum homes to see, there were a couple of good home-cooking restaurants there when I lived there around 1990.

Between them, I think is "The Crossroads" on Highway 61 - I am not certain which crossroads it is, but probably have been there.

One of the best times to tour Mississippi is in the early fall - cools off, humidity subsides a little - in mid-summer it can be pretty intense, particularly if you have not had time to harden to it.
