Default Pearl, MS

My husband is looking at a job in Jackson. We have been told that Pearl is very nice. Can anyone give us info on this area such as housing cost, property taxes, sales taxes, etc. Any and all info would be really great. Thanks.

Pearl is nice. Depending on what you are looking for. Pearl is growing and it is close to Jackson, The back roads can help you avoid the interstate traffic into Jackson, to the Resevoir, Brandon, and other areas. As far as boring it depends on what you are looking for Jackson and it surrounding ares offer alot. The Ballet, Planetarium, Museums, sailing, fishing, golfing, Baseball, ect... A place is what you make it. The main advice I will give you is if you are buying a house check the neighborhood out, when looking at a house ask about the foundation, the roof, look at the corners and check the floor in the bathroom wear light shoes feel aroud on the floor, bring marbles with you roll them on the floor. The number one problem with houses in Pearl is they all are on the Yazoo clay. These are two words you will want to know, they can save you money or cost alot of money.

Mississippi? Pearl is okay, so is Brandon, but for god's sake who would move to such a lousy backward state....unless you have to take the job for survival...if you do...pay your dues and move !.....you have 49 better states to choose from I think.....and some great chocies in the SOUTH, like Charlotte, Atlanta, Hunstville, AL ! , Nashville !, heck I would choose Dothan alabama over living in MISSISSIPPI, at least Dothan is lcoser to the beaches of Florida...........

Thumbs down About MS- to MrMeisterMan

" but for god's sake who would move to such a lousy backward state....unless you have to take the job for survival...if you do...pay your dues and move !.....you have 49 better states to choose from I think....."

It's no wonder we are in such a shape as a state-- remarks like this must come from people who never try to do anything to make things better.

Mississippi is a beautiful state in it's own special way. I've lived in 13 others and been in nearly every other state. I still would rather live here and work to make people aware of certain problems and try to make things change for the better for "the people" -- NOT for the few elitists, politicians, and wealthy condo/gated community lovers.

If you don't like it here and don't want to work for change then maybe you should indeed move.

oh, and we have 50 states to choose from.
