We are planning to move to the coast so we can help people rebuild or however else we can help people in need. We are totally excited about being there... but...
Is there any affordable housing anymore?
My fiance is retiring a year early from Ford and will only get a percentage of his normal pay until 08. $600-850 a mo. is our limit... but we need 3 bdrs. -- one for my studio.
I have searched online and it all looks expensive.
Any advice??

Whew! Don't think you'll be able to find anything in that price range. I live in a 2-bedroom apt in Gulfport and ours is $450 a month (and my mother is site manager so my family gets a discount). All of our apts are full. More housing is slowly becoming available as more and more houses and apartments are renovated, but it's hard to find something as big as a 3/4 bedroom. Best of luck.

Default Affordable housing in Pascagoula

Hello I just posted a response to a question similiar to yours. Go to this page
removed.
There is a list of apartments there. The city of Pascagoula has a nice website that gives housing information and even a list of all apartments with phone numbers.
You will definately find a apartment in your price range

try Saucier, there are mobile homes that may be for rent there if you like the country.. Wiggins is another place to try, its about 27 miles from Gulfport. that price range can be found but chances are you wouldn't want to live there. Watch the area you move to also.. there are some bad ones.

I live in Saucier and you might be lucky enough to find a house to rent for 800.00 a month but from what I have seen it seems like the For Rent signs hardly take a day or two to come down. Your most likely to find a trailer at that price. Our local paper has a web site that you could log onto to look through the classifieds for rentals and sales. I believe it is Sunherald.com

I looked online at the paper mentioned above they had the house I'm in listed for 795 a month.. its a 3 bedroom. I rented it site unseen online.. found out after moving here this was a pretty rough area before the storm.. afterwards though its cleaned up a lot. Seems the higher 700+ rents keep the rift raft at bay though so consider that when your selecting a house. I like it though.. I don't feel unsafe here. Everyone around me seems nice enough.

I live near the Seabee base.. I am just a few blocks from the beach.. so to have a house with this rent value and to be so close is unheard of. most people are living above I-10 now in what is called Orange Grove.

You may want to check it out.. its very nice up in that area. Also look into Ocean Springs.. and Maybe D'Iberville. Both great places here on the coast. there are a ton of great fixer uppers in Bay Saint Loise, and Waveland. But know when I say Fixer Uppers they are storm damaged homes, that are for sale. the community over there could use the help. Something to consider.

Also consider where you plan to work and your travel distance.. gas prices are really high here, because were a tourist hot-spot.. and I-90 and other roads here can get a tad congested at peek hours.

Good luck on your move to the area.. we welcome you.

Been there and I have never seen such inflation since the storm. I talked with people who said that they had to leave the city and move inland because they could not afford the rent in Biloxi and all of the coastal cities. I don't know what you are looking for but most of your apartments jumped from the mid-hundreds to the mid-thousand. The realty companies and the casinos are the only ones making a killing and they have been given a license to "STEAL"
