Wife and I have began to explore the option of purchasing a second place. The MS Gulf Coast is area is our first choice. We go there alot, and like the idea of havin a place there. Our primary home is in Desoto County.

I have a few questions.

1. Homeowners insurance. About how much should we expect to pay for insurance. The places were looking at would be no more than $90K at the most. Ideally we want a place as close to the beach or waterfront as possible. The homes on canals in Bay St Louis have really caught our eye. But if we have to be North of I10, so be it.

2. The research Ive done thus far seems to indicate that I10 is the divding line of reasonable and unreasonable insurance rates. I have a boat 26ft cabin cruiser and would like to not pay for slip. So how far north can I go and still be able to access the the gulf by boat if we want waterfront. Meaning which canals or rivers North of I-10 can be used to access the gulf.

3. IN the event of severe weather, can I assume there are trustful companies in the area I can call to prep my property and boat for a storm, in the event I couldnt make it to the area.
