Natchez Parkway....I probably could have taken better pictures, but the way this road is designed, doesn't really allow you to stop on the side of the road. You can only stop at rest areas.

It's amazing how the entire lawn along the Parkway is mowed so nicely. Must take a lot of time and dedication.

It is actually OK to pull off onto the grass. We do it all the time and set up a picnic. Probably would be a little careful if it has rained a lot, and I'm always careful to pull off and up; not off and down.

Tlslees, this picture looks amazing. Where exactly is this taken? I find that there is nothing around only some trees and snow found on the ground. This does not look like a park, as there are no benches for people to sit.

I ended up getting light snow accumulation this morning, our first snowfall of the year. I was too far north for the tornadoes, I'm praying for the people effected down there.

Hmm... ok, so the concept of "post pics of Mississippi" in this thread has become "cherry pic some randomesque images that look like every road with a forest next to it in the world".

How about some realistic pics of Mississippi? Where are the beer cans on the side of the typical road, or the homeless men in any real city in this state, or the trailer courts that dot the landscape? Why don't we have thousands of pictures of churches that numb the mind to the point of blurring one church into the next?

Come on, cherry picking your images to make this state look perfect is as fair as a man from New York saying his city beats this whole state because he posted a pic of the Empire State Building and then points out that Mississippi has nothing like it at all.

Let's get realistic, let's get nitty gritty. That's what this state has an abundant supply of, nitty gritty heaps of crud stacked all over the place.

The pics of the road with the forest and such look like they could be from anywhere, so what message are we sending? "Mississippi - Our Roads Look Like They Could Be Anywhere Else On Earth But Mississippi?"

1. The OP states: "I thought this would be a great thing for Mississippi so ya'll can showcase your state". Note the word "showcase".

2. Nothing is stopping you, Mr. Grumpy Gus, from posting "nitty gritty" pictures your own self.

Very well, I shall.

However, I take the meaning behind the word "showcase" to be evidently different than yours. While it is perfectly acceptable to believe that showcase means to pretend that it is paradise, I believe showcase means show the truth for what it is.

Note, however, that the truth is not always "this place sucks" or "this place is paradise". The truth is the truth.

For example, we've already viewed several photos of the Casino areas of Gulfport and Biloxi. It'd be a long, long stretch for anyone to say they look like trash piles.

At the same time, a popular thread going on right now is how the Delta is a depressing eyesore of rot, decay, and filth.

Anyways, here's my first input as far as photos go. Here is a church in Belmont, MS. I found this photo hilarious considering that it's of a church and there's a huge pile of stones beside it, given the multiple references in the bible to stoning people to death.

I don't disagree with that.

This is familiar. Tupelo is right next to my home town... As a matter of fact we have to go to Tupelo for anything fun, lol. I live in a dry town... all the businesses go where they can sell liquor. So if you want a good restaurant or if you like clubs or anything else, you have to go outside my little town, lol. But people around here are getting tired of it and I feel like things are gonna have to change real soon. The old, bible carrying, (by their liquor when know ones looking) folks need to stop with the nonsense.

Thanks for sharing....
