The thrill is gone. To say that B.B. is an icon is truly an understatement. He defined the blues more than any other. We lost a true legend...one of our own.

I am not as well-versed in the blues as some others but I sort of thought of him as probably the last living great of the original bluesmen. The really big name blues artists that came before him or during his era (Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Willie Dixon, Son House, etc.) are all gone and I sort of thought he was the last of the originals. Now, he is now gone too.

BB King isn't considered one of the original bluesmen for some strange reason. He should but isn't. He was certainly IMO the best one. yes, even better than Muddy Waters.

I'm watching a BB King concert right now on MPB. It looks like it's from the '70s at a prison.

Rest easy, Blues Boy.

His funeral celebration should be a really wonderful gathering of the best players around.

I hope that the younger "music stars " will be respectful, and not make it "all about THEM " as is so often the case, nowadays.

Jim B. In Toronto.
