Mosquitos the size of baseballs! Great fishing. Easy drive to Memphis for concerts etc. Easy drive to casinos.Hot and humid in the summer. A typical Southern town.

From my few visits there I can tell you a little. The town has an old town square with a park and gazebo in the middle. It looked like the kind of place they probably do summer concerts for 4th of July. There were a few shops, including a used book store and a jewelry store. There was a quaint little cafe. The main strip into town is your typical stop off of an interstate--chain restaurants, fast-food and maybe a Walmart. The Grenada state park is fabulous. Amazing lake. Amazing hiking with wetlands as well as really nice bluffs and a river. Good camping. There is beautiful land surrounding the town.

Captain Dan, you obviously have never been to Grenada. There's very few mosquitoes in Grenada. The mosquitoes are in the delta, not here. I've lived here all my life.

yes, the mosquitoes are definately in the delta and not here. (grenada) lived here my entire life. I love it. It's the perfect size town. It has the lake for fishing and boating and it's wonderful small town life, but there's still a wal mart for everything you need.
The crime isn't bad. It's a pretty safe place for children. Grenada has the best elementary school in the state. and wonderful summer youth league sports program. along with plenty of choiced in good churches.

Grenada Lake is great. I like the area. There is a branch of Holmes Community College there. Mosquitoes are more of a problem in the Mississippi Delta (Cleveland, Greenwood, Clarksdale, etc) Not to mention the little places around those cities. Delta State University is about an hour and 15 minutes in one direction. Mississippi State University seems about the same distance in another direction. I think its a pretty nice place.
