Default Congrats to Hernado/Desoto County

Good morning all, I saw this morning in the Clarion Ledger that Hernando and Desoto County have the lowest crime/poverty levels in the Memphis area and the highest Income levels in the Memphis area also.

I am not suprised at the low crime/poverty level in Desoto County, I am suprised at the high income levels though. Congrats. I will be glad when I move up that way in the next couple years. Have a great day, M. Webb

Why is that suprising? Shelby County has nearly 1 million people. DeSoto has about 150k. There are vast stretches of urban ghetto in Shelby County (much of it bordering DeSoto) that lower the income levels. DeSoto is solidly middle class, though it doesn't have the upper income areas like Shelby. Also, DeSoto has nearly half the land area of Shelby. Cut Shelby in half and compare the eastern half to DeSoto.
