Moving to Gulfport very soon. Looking for good places to relocate in the Gulfport,Biloxi,Long Beach areas
Also what will I be looking forward to as far as transition in cultures my wife is still thinking everyone is in the
60's, I'm not. We were there last April and I really liked it less hustle and bustle from the metro Detroit area
we are coming from. Very much looking for a change in the winter weather

I lived there from 1978 to 1993. Loved it.
Do a search on storm surge zones. Most everything south of the RR tracks gets flooded.
The smaller areas north of town..Orange Grove etc...are close enough to be worth living there..but far enough away from the beach to be safer.

Probably a bit more conservative, perhaps religious, than Michigan, but it is somewhat more liberal than the rest of the state (though not enough to change the voting patterns relative to the rest of the state in Presidential elections).

Anecdotally, I was told by a white woman with mexican mestizo husband that in Gulfport, they encounterd a bit of prejudice. NONE in Biloxi though. Bay St Louis is probably the most artsy-bohemian area of the Mississippi coast - definitely one of the more liberal areas of the state. The city of Biloxi is liberal by Mississippi standards too. All the rest boils down to housing prices and likelihood of flooding during hurricanes.

lamar, that the place to be just north of I 10 in the oceans spring area, a mile or two east of bilioxi and diberville
