Question Mississippi Life

Okay, I have read many forums about relocation, but I am 27, single, and love the outdoors. I have a possible position available in Jackson, but I don't want to deal with the high crime.

Where is there young people, good clean living, not to expensive, and is away from the city? Oh yeah, I like to have a few drinks and have a good time every once and a while too.

Well, Sugar Britches, if I were you, I think I would look around the reservoir area. That covers Madison/Rankin counties. But between the two, Madison is probably your best bet. Hope this helps.

BTW, welcome to City Data.

Sugar Britches! LOL! I haven't heard that in forever...and I love it! To the OP - don't know where you're coming from, but that's just a Mississippi colloquialism. There's a ton of them...never get offended until you're positive of what's been said!

I agree that the reservoir area would be good for you. There are some really nice apartment complexes right on the water in Rankin County.

By Thunder, did I just reveal how ancient I am? Oh well, as long as you keep your inner child fed, you will always remain young at heart.

BTW, thanks for taking up for this old geezer and 'splaining some of our "deep south" idioms, Fancy Pants!

Now back to the OP - Yes, there are many apartments surrounding the reservoir area both in Rankin and Madison counties. I just suggested Madison as a first choice since there is more of a night life (clubs and such) than on the Rankin side of the Reservoir - or at least there was when I was an ankle bitter.

Fishing is great at the Reservoir, especially the Lower Head Dam area. That is around the spillway area where Madison and Rankin counties are joined by a bridge span. All water activity is good at the Reservoir - houseboats, jet skiing, fishing, swimming, skiing, beer busts at various sandbars, etc. Here are some more links:

Nice! thanks you have been a great help.

How about wildlife areas like state or national parks??? I may sound crazy with these questions, but I do wildlife research as a biologist.

I am really just trying to get a good idea of what will be around me for work and relaxation.
