I have lived in Clinton all my life. 51 years. Now in NC. Clinton would definately be better than Vicksburg. There will be a 30 minute commute to Vicksburg. Huntcliff, College Hills, the neighborhood by the high school, the ones further on down towards 49 that are off of Pinehaven Rd. are all good. Linda Drive area, good.
(which the public schools in Clinton are excellent!!! All grades. They are very choosy on who teaches, have been working on their education plans for many years, and in my opinion, it should be emulated in many states for success!)
Woodmore, off of Hwy. 80 good. You might not be able to get your money back if you move to Clinton Park, unless you get a really good price on your home. Any of the older neighborhoods, and I mean 50 years old, are stable and a good investment. Neighborhoods off of Springridge road, Trailwood, close by) get a good deal so you can re-sell later. (this doesn't include College Hills, the houses are a good investment there.) Neighborhoods off of Clinton Raymond Rd., good investment. Eastside, get a good deal. Stay away from homes down Clinton Blvd. towards Jackson, in Jackson.

woodmore is very family-friendly
Woodmore in Clinton has a pool and park and tennis courts. It is very convenient to the interstate. I was there visiting family the other day and it is well-maintained. There is a large Baptist church right next to Woodmore. There are several other protestant and other types of churches within a few miles of there. The neighborhood is very near to the private college in town. The schools are really good in Clinton. The Natchez Trace is a really nice area and provides access to great camping and hiking, or even just nice driving.

Hey to those of you living in Clinton there are some here in Vicksburg who are getting jealous just like thier descent counterparts over the fact that u have picked more population and getting more locals to live in Clinton. But since Vicksburg doesn't have a cinema, high gas prices, overpriced real estate, they're having issues now with commuters trying to live here. By the way listen to Live From Klodyke on 1490 am WVBG over there becouse some of the local guest hosts have been disbarranging over places across the state. One more thing Jake Kilroy one of the co-hosts had a horrible experince at one the restraunts in Clinton. He chastized Natchez by the way. Just thought I let u guys know.

moving to vicksburg/clinton
Hi - Vicksburg native here - based mostly the teenagers - go with Clinton or Madison. Both have awesome schools and Vicksburg does not. Vicksburg is a nice little southern town that has missed the boat on a lot of things. Good luck!

Mrboa, I'm fond of Vicksburg though I dont live there. I agree that Vicksburg just seems to push away opportunities to climb out of its leisurely downward slide. Too bad.
That said, I love the Attic gallery and the old courthouse museum.

Those of you in Clinton should listen to the Live from Klondyke on WVBG 1490 am from 730 am to 9am. The hosts try to play up downtown Vicksburg too much. And from time to time they put down other communties like Natchez to prove that Vicksburg is better. And one more thing when do licensed realtors are allowed on the air and to mislead listeners that the Vicksburg real estate market is booming? Well Ricky Caldwell of Coldwell Bankers has been doing this and his mother. Last year his mother Harly stated that Clinton only had going for it "is education." She said with sarcasm. Hey Clinton is growing and Vicksburg isn't. But the good news is that some of the local leaders are freaking out that mony is moviing out and there isn't nothing they can do about it. Also they haven't gotten in a new cinema yet like Mayor Leyens promised.

Thanks for all the great information everyone. How are you all doing down there? I read in the newspaper about the tornadoes last week and flooding
in Vicksburg.

I've been keeping up with the flooding. In fact the river city has been on the Weather Channel becouse of the high water. Like to see them interview Mayor Leyens about the high water which he has been complaining about. But u can't stop mother nature. They're going to revise the river crest soon.

Well, I am proud to let everyone know Vicksburg is growing and now has a theater in our mall. I truly believe the casinos are dragging our beautiful city down, but we are not giving up without a fight. A lot of privately owned businesses are making a strong come back to renovate and build up the city. We have beautiful Murrals downtown Washington Street, along with other historical monuments in our military park. I have been living here for 13 years with my family. South Park, Beechwood and Sherman Elementary schools have a wonderful K - 4th and/or K - 6th classes to enroll your children, Bowmar is another excellent magnet school. My Teenagers go to Vicksburg High where my son was honored for writing a national essay, earning the school grants, milk etc. I really like both high schools, they both have a lot to offer. Often we go to Monroe, La. or Tallulah, La. to shop, eat and visit our friends. I guess, Vicksburg is what you make of it. Remember, home is in our hearts, we take it every where we go.
