If anyone knows of any let me know

Why don't you just drive down here to St Pete, Fl? The Tampa Bay Blues festival is on this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Lots of great blues. By the way, Janis Joplin, Paul Butterfield, and Greg Allman were/are some of the greatest blues singers that ever lived. Billy Gibbins should be included too. They're all white. So I'm guessing that the op is a Yankee, so here's a short lesson. The blues knows no color, race, or nationality. We saw Greg last year in Daytona Beach and it was hands down the best music I have heard. The man can still belt them out. One of the wonders of the world that he is not only still alive, but sounding better than ever. Greg Allman IS the blues.

The blues doesn't know race, but the people you listed (Allman, etc) are over on the "rock music" side of things. Sure, he's playing the same 1-4-5 chord progressions, but with distortion guitars and an upbeat tempo that has more in common with rock than blues.

I'm thinking the OP wants more of this:

and this:

That's the blues!!!

If you are talking about "Call and Response" type Mississippi acoustic blues it is getting a little hard to find. Up around Clarksdale, MS there are plenty of places.

Had to chuckle at your "White dude" remark. Before you make your final judgement, check out Fiona Boyes, who is a White female Australian...

Ok... I'm going to stop playing Grendel's Harsh Generation album, and listen to those Blues examples - as much as I can stand, anyway. Back in a moment...

I'm back. Honestly, Nick, I don't think that your idea of 'Blues' is slow and whiny enough for most Mississippians. They want something more insipid. Basically, if it isn't some stomach-turning warmed-up old Top-40 love song like what they've heard on American Idol, they're not going to be interested.

Unless it's RAP/Hip Hop. Mississippi is now exporting those genres. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXFyznZx6f0) Here's a video shot in somebody's Madison County McMansion: http://kingfish1935.blogspot.com/201...-in-flora.html

I'm not sure who listens to Blues, now. I suspect it's the same set who buy motorcycles because someone told them it's what all the other affluent older people are doing. To find large-enough concentrations of affluent elderly heavy drinkers, you're going to have to go to either New Orleans or Mobile.

The casinos in Mississippi MAY have Blues. But it'll be bands who were radio-friendly, "back in the day", or "tribute bands" mimicking radio-friendly Blues bands. You'd just have to check the venues for specific times.

Lots of performances like what you want DO happen in Mississippi. But they're spread-out all over the state, and happen on a performance-by-performance basis. You know: so-and-so will be playing at thethe blah blah festival, on...

I think my Centurion Card comes with a service to "hook me up" with all the latest concerts, via "concierge". Platinum cards probably come with the same option. And my Lexus seems DESPERATE to provide me with some sort of mess like that, with its exuberant "connectivity". All of it is aimed at elderly persons with the increasingly rare combination of too much money and too much time on their hands. So, maybe your credit cards, or the "connectivity" in your car, can find the Blues venues which you seek.

New Orleans has "House of Blues", which pretty-much delivers a steady stream of what you're looking for.

If you're after an 'interaction' - actually going to a shack in a cotton field, and listening - and communing - with an ancient former slave playing a guitar with a broken bottle... well... you're about half-a century too late. Mississippi has moved on to newer genres: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rIPFZ5Iqig

Go to Red's in Clarksdale and Beatty's place in Indianola at night.

You'll see all the blues you need to see.

Also, I think you'd like to learn a little about our state and what we have to offer, so I recommend visiting this official visitor's website at
