If you are considering a move to Mississippi, please read!
The only thing that you will need to learn and be able to adapt to in order to live in Mississippi is the weather.
Understand that we do have 4 seasons:
Almost Summer
Summer
Still Summer
Christmas
If you can accept that this is the Mississippi way and you like Sweet Tea, you will be fine.

That really ought to extend to anyone thinking about a move to the Gulf Coast from somewhere else, not just Mississippi.
Winter's two or three days long. Deal with it.

Here in New England we only have three seasons: June, July, and winter.
So, I'll get an extra season when I come to Mississippi?

I came down here from Maryland and people really do get excited over 10 snowflakes. People were asking me if it was ok to drive, if they should go before it got "worse"... I simply said, the roads are fine. There was water on the ground, nothing frozen, the snow barely even stuck. I was just as excited to see the snow though, I thought I had left it all behind me up north. As far as the "up north" and weather, there are plenty of places with humidity, where I was in Maryland is just as bad as it is here, just doesnt stick around as long. Basically, the warning about heat and humidity means, there will be over 90% humidity and heat indexes will reach the 100s, if you have seen that, irregardless of where you are, you know what to expect.

In Northeast Tennessee, we have four beautiful seasons. I grew up in outside of Laurel and it is hot. You do get a very late fall and a lovely very quick spring, but summer does seem to last a long time.

Guys - MS runs almost 400 miles north to south.
In north Mississippi we have 4 seasons. The winter is mild, but it's definetly 4 season. In March we had 8 inches of snow in one storm, rare, but we do get snow.
Fall and Spring are great season, and it was a long and cool (but rainy) spring this year. It only turned hot a week or two ago and will cool down again in late September.
You want one season? You want humid? Live in Florida. I did it for 25 years. Mississippi mine as well be Canada compared to Florida.

This sounds much more like I remember it; especially the part about Fall and Spring. I loved Fall there, because you knew that you probably weren't going to have a sudden Winter-like cold snap in the middle of it that ruined it.
