Default Looking to relocate

I grew up in Newton Co.and moved away in mid 60's when things were really bad for Black people. Now i'm looking to move back, preferably to George or Jackson Co's,You see i'm getting close to retirement age and I love to fish so i want to live near some water. If anyone is familiar with the area i've mentioned and provide me with information i would be very appreciative.
I often think of owning property on a stream that would have access to the gulf of mexico but yet situated in quiet serenity with good people as neighbors.

I don't have much personal experience with either George or Jackson co., so take my advice for what it's worth, but my mother says George co. is still pretty redneck and not too friendly.

Hi, I am from Bay St. Louis area, Hancock County, which was hardest hit by Katrina but is recovering pretty well now. There is an area called Shoreline Park where I have property. The area is storm prone but is rebuilding. Also occasional minor flooding of the land back off of Highway 603 to the Jourdan River and Bayou La Croix every few years. But they are nearly all waterfront lots with access to the Gulf and not far from the beaches. Many of these lots are for sale and you should be able to get one for a really good price. You will have to build your house up on pilings at least 10 feet. The fishing is quite good in this area.

Yes because we all know that ALL rednecks are racist..whatever..it just proves that sterotypes exist in every race, not just minorities..

Unfortunately, the racists have given the term a bad connetation. And I would be a liar if I didn't say that most rednecks I know are racist. Maybe they aren't running around lynching people but they ain't singing Kumbaya either.

Is it racism, or just facts of life? From my experiences in life, I've found many stereotypes to be true most of the time. I think it's natural for people to stick with their own kind. Just like the voluntary segregation going on in schools & neighborhoods throughout the country. I don't see this as hate, just people trying to do what they feel is right. Anyone who has some lick of pride in their ancestry is going to get a little upset when the see a mixed race couple. Again, natural behavior in my opinion.

PITBOSS, I think this topic is veering off into off-topic land, and should probably be taken to another forum. But I do want to say that I have plenty of pride in myself and my ancestry, and I do not feel a shred of anger or jealousy over mixed-race couples.

Muhnay, although there are idiots in South MS, too, the racial climate there is a little more laidback than in some of the more insular parts of MS.
