Default Relocating to Columbus AFB from Virginia

We are a military family relocating to Columbus AFB. Is it feasible to live in Tupelo and drive to Columbus AF every day? About an hour it looks like? Anyone have any connection to house rentals? Is there a nice area between tupelo and Columbus AFB? Need a town with a starbucks and good bookstore

Tupelo is about an hour from Columbus. Probably a little less to the AFB. It isn't a bad drive, but I don't make it everyday.

Not sure about rentals in Columbus. The newspaper might be a good place to start looking. Commercial Dispatch Online

Good luck!

Have you heard something about Columbus that would make you not want to move there? If you're used to commuting an hour each way, great; in some ways, Tupelo is better than Columbus. It has a few more amenities than Columbus, but I'm not sure about a good bookstore. In fact, I only know of a couple of decent bookstores in the entire state, one in Oxford and one in Jackson.

Most anything between Columbus and Tupelo would be rural or semi-rural except for Aberdeen, and you definitely don't want to live there.

Decent rental houses in the Columbus area are scarce and expensive (expect $1000/month or so). Can't tell you about Tupelo, but with a lot of industry moving in there, I would assume they would be scarce also.
