For driving, that is... America's Deadliest Counties & States for Drivers - 2nd Annual Study

But going by the color code on that site's rather beautifully-colored map, MADISON COUNTY IS PRETTY SAFE.

The Delta, including Tunica County has an underclass who cause a number of problems (and who need to be evacuated to Atlanta, where their prospects can be improved). On top of that, Tunica County gets 'Gambling Tourism' from Memphis. I'm imagining that these 'tourists' are frequently elderly AND drunk AND low-IQ (a look inside a casino, or a hotel catering to casino crowds, will confirm my generalization).

In general, I find elderly people to be better-than-average drivers. However, the subset of elderly who, despite having lived lives of sleaze and dissolution, are still, inexplicably, alive - well those are not such hotsy-totsy drivers. And that's what I'm imagining is coming down from Memphis to gamble.

I'm imagining typical fast, mean Tennessee driving, converging, in Tunica County, with typical Small Town Mississippi ultra-slow-&-clueless driving (clueless, as in Mississippi's leading cause of driving fatalities being failure to stay in the proper lane Fatal Crash Causes . Sometimes, Mississippians fail at that 'Proper Lane' thing, in a big way: http://kingfish1935.blogspot.com/201...i55-kills.html and Dowager Soybean Empress just called with breaking news, about, "A woman named LaToya, who was going the wrong way on I220, as part of her baptismal celebration". I think this is the same one: http://www.wapt.com/article/wrong-wa...rnight/8536630). So, some speed-freak from Memphis collides with a meandering Delta driver. That's the typical scenario I'm imagining: the synergy created when the underclass of Memphis drives on the same roads as the underclass of the Delta.

Anybody know from experience?

And this, just in from 'smarino': "I know this is one of the worst posts I have ever seen. That's what I know."

Hmmmm.... I just looked at your thread, entitled, Why is it so hard for us retired oldsters to make friends?
Further comment would be just too easy - like shooting ducks in a bathtub...

"Note: Rankings are based on the rate of fatal accidents per 10,000 residents." Tunica County only has about 10,500 residents. Of course, one fatality will affect their numbers more than one in Madison County. Last time I was in Tunica County, I had to drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid knee deep pot holes.
