I found this neat little article on downtown Water Valley's revitalization. I've never been to Water Valley, so I didn't know this was happening. I would love to see other downtowns in the state do this.

People have to make a sacrifice to have that sort of thing happen. Couple of guys are trying to do that in Kosciusko too.

Eventually it'll happen in Jackson, no matter what the doomsayers think.

You must be Jackson's biggest fan. Kinda funny seeing how you don't live in Jackson.

You need to quit commenting on my posts. Nothing but inflammatory. Worst poster on this forum. Never add anything.

The article and short film the OP linked to failed to mention what is probably Water Valley's greatest asset. It is about a 15-minute drive from the bustling (and expensive) college and retirement town of Oxford. WV thus provides a cheaper (for the moment) alternative for people wishing to buy a house and start a business catering to upscale folks. I find it interesting that it took people from elsewhere to revive downtown WV. But will there be enough of a customer base for those businesses to be profitable?

Got Enid Lake too. I'm telling you man, Mississippi has a ton more tourism draws than it is given credit for.

But yes....interesting observation about money coming from elsewhere. It's going to have to. New ideas are going to have to be implemented. What's always been done, has gotten the current results.

Oxford expensive? I wouldn't have ever thought that. I don't doubt the cost living is higher there than Water Valley.

By Mississippi standards, Oxford is expensive.
