Senatobia ?
What is it like there? Small, growing town or dying a slow death?

They just landed a Toyota Supplier, so I would not say they are dying.

It's a rural town that is slowly becoming a bedroom community of Memphis. The state has plans to six-lane I-55 from Memphis to Senatobia.

We (meaning myself, hubby & 3 kids) lived there for a year. If your looking at schools they put the kids in uniforms. Which has mixed reviews. We did drive to Memphis to work everyday. But there are plenty of jobs around if you have the skills and luck of getting them. We are currently in Tucson, AZ and are thinking of moving back. We miss the small town "feel" we had there.
What Toyota thing did they land???

Did all of Tate County schools get uniforms? Just wondering, because up in Shelby County they only gave Millington's schools uniforms- which was the worst plan the county ever tried. I, personally, do not agree with uniforms- too much money and time, and does the County just like to pick on Millington- make them feel like the lab rats??? Putting our kids in uniforms while everyone else gets the freedom of individuality??? Sorry, got a little carried away, but I was just wondering if the same thing was happening to Senatobia and Tate County.
Iv'e passed through Senatobia numerous times and found it to be a nice, more rural town. Although it is starting to pick up that suburban, "No character" feel...Thats sad- it has too much character to waste. Overall, its really nice though.

I lived here in Tate County for 42 years all my life and I love being out here in the Country in Wakefield 5 miles north east of Independence. We have a great Sheriffs Dept. Our # one officer would be Tate 2 Cheif Dept. A great person and will get the job done. Great Job Tate 2.Anthony W

senatobia
Has somewhat of a Mayberry feel. New subdivisions are on the south side of town. Has a community college and yes, in the path of Memphis suburban growth. $6 billion electric car plant being proposed nearby. As small towns go, not bad at all...

Dry county... Not a lot of restaurants, but you can drive down to Como or up to Southaven for plenty of those. If you want a relatively quiet place to live with decent schools (for rural public schools), it's not bad.
