Lourdea is on a distinguished road
Default What would be the best large city?

I have lived in LA/DC/Miami and enjoyed the nightlife and diversity, class and options they had to offer. However, I am looking for a city in the south that can offer a progressive environment and culture/charm---

Any suggestions between Mississippi and alabama?

Actually, no. New Orleans has the best nightlife in the South and is loaded with culture and charm. Crime is a major problem there, but if nightlife, culture, and charm is what you are looking for, then there is no better place than New Orleans. Austin is a somewhat Southern city that has great nightlife and a lot of culture, though it is becoming more California-like than Southern. Personally, I'd move to New Orleans and live in Uptown/Garden District, French Quarter, or Fauborg Marigny. It's an amazing city as long as you don't have children in tow and can tolerate criminals.
