(Also posted in "Memphis" forum.) Looking for a low-cost rental, and I've seen several in the neighborhood of Magnolia Estates. We're trying to live small for the next year or two; our current house hasn't sold yet, but we're moving to Olive Branch due to a job transfer. I don't care about upgrades like granite counter tops or a jacuzzi tub. My children won't be in school for several years (and by then we hope to buy a house) so the school district doesn't matter much. I just want a small house that is safe, clean, and comfortable. An area where we can play outside with the neighborhood kids or go for a walk without worrying about dangers lurking around every corner. Would Magnolia Estates fit the bill?

I live just south of Olive Branch and have found the area to be very nice. Magnolia Estates is on the east side of Olive Branch near several schools. It is not the most posh neighborhood but I do know someone who is renting there and they haven't had anything bad to say about the neighborhood but they have said some of the rental houses were in pretty bad shape. So if possible you really need to give them a good look for signs of neglect and bugs.
Hopefully someone who lives closer to this neighborhood will give better detail. Good Luck. |

My brother in law used to live in that neighborhood. He moved because he was afraid of his home value declining. They were a lot of problems in his area, the cops knew it well. Things may have changed there by now, that was about a year ago. Olive Branch is a nice little town, that is just not my favorite neighborhood. Good Luck.
