ATV 4-Wheeling in Central MS (Jackson: camp, legal, moving to)

We're moving to the Jackson area this summer. I'm a yankee but I'm a country boy and I like to ride my 4-wheeler in the woods.

Not sure if I should move my ATV with me, or sell it. Does anyone know of any good legal riding spots in central MS to ride alone or some clubs to join to go on pleasure rides with a group? Either central MS or maybe the gulf coast.

I'm not into heavy duty technical riding, mudding, rock climbing or racing. I'm a senior and like to pleasure ride and enjoy nature. Thanks in advance.

Good question. I grew up in the woods of central MS, so having a place to ride was never a problem when I was a kid. But unless you own your own woods or have a mutual agreement with a neighbor with plenty of open woods, or belong to a hunting camp and use the ATV like a lot of hunters do, I don't know of many, if any, public ATV riding areas. Most of the parks I've been to don't allow them, but that would be the first place I'd look. Check out the MS State Park system.
I'm looking at a few sites right now, try Trace State Park I think in the northern part of the state.
