Default moving to jackson

hi guys,

this is a very helpful forum with answers to ppl like me moving to a place they never have been bfore...i'm moving to jackson from michigan coz of a new job. i'm lookin to find a good and safe place to live which is about 15-30 mins from the downtown jackson (thats where my work place is). i've heard mixed things about jackson, ms like many ppl here about the racism, crime rates, etc. i did read up on the forums and answers given by some pppl here...seems like flowood, ridgeland, brandon are nice and relatively safe places to live. but am not sure which one wud b closer to my work place. could some1 help me out here? also, am an indian and moved to US abt 7 yrs ago and have lived in michigan ever since. i've been all over the US and visited quite a few places as i love travelling (visited about 28 states so far). but never been to jackson, ms. hence, this homework. i did find that there is an indian restaurant down there...could u guys help me out here with issues that i shud b worried abt in jackson with respect to a place to live?

oh almost forgot to mention that i am lookin for a 1 or 2 bedroom apt (depending on the size) for now...we r just a couple with no kids and no pets.

thanks!

Ridgeland and Flowood are the closest, however Brandon is not that far. All three are nice areas to live.

My mother has a neighbor who are Indians and very involved with the Indian Reservation. You would love them - they are older with grown children but would love to meet you and offer any assistance they can - I'm sure! Seriously, you need to look in either Ridgeland or Flowood for an apartment and the traffic is bad either way, however, I suggest Ridgeland. Good luck

I live in Ridgeland. I moved here from Flowood. The pros of Flowood is the great shopping and convenience. The cons (and only one I can think of) is LAKELAND in the morning and in the evening after 4:30. Ridgeland is awesome. I moved here to be closer to my son's aftercare. It has the same pros but the con to Ridgeland is County Line Rd. If you can handle the traffic, you will love either place. If you need some apt. info, let me know. I got an apartment guide the other day. I can send it to your P.O. box or something. Better yet, check out the apartments on www.apartments.com. Hope this helps.
