Loosely quoted from Cohn, "The Mississippi Delta begins in the lobby of the Peabody (Hotel in Memphis, TN) and ends on Catfish Row (in Vicksburg). All ya gotta do is google Mississippi Delta, you'll get your fill. If I'm not mistaken, it's been a long time since I was through Hernando, but it is physically NOT in the Delta, but in the small hills beside it.

It is the flat land on either side of the MS river.
On the east side of the river, it starts at Memphis and goes south to Natchez. On the west side, it starts in souther MO and goes south through AR and all the way to souther LA. Here's a map view of it. It is the flat part of land on either side of the MS river - link. As stated earlier, no. As you drive west from Hernando towards Robinsonville (the casinos), you will drive out of the hills and into the flat land of the delta. It is also diferentiated by going from forest into open farm land. There is a dramatic change in landscape. -Robert |

Nice link, a keeper, for sure; howsomever, Natchez is south of Vicksburg, and the MS Delta ends at Vicksburg. Are you from Mississippi, by chance? I am, from the heart of the Delta, Cleveland. |

I always get the Natchez/Vicksburg thing mixed up. I haven't been that way in years. -Robert |

Yeah, there's a big hill just north of Vicksburg and when you come over the top I swear you could see memphis if there weren't any trees. the only hills are man-made. I love it, everything about it.

I have used that same description many times. I thought I was the only one.
![]() As far as the hills and the flatlands, if you're traveling on Hwy. 82W in the Carrollton area heading toward Greenwood, there is one last group of hills (covered in kudzu of course) and as you come down the last hill it levels off and it is flat for as far as the eye can see. |
