I said from day one, don't be surprised if the Toyota Blue Springs plant doesn't make the Highlander. Looks like I could be right.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research) will switch gears and produce the Prius hybrid instead of the less fuel-efficient Highlander sport utility vehicle at its planned Mississippi factory, the Nikkei business daily reported on Thursday.

This is wonderful news. We do not need production of gas hogs, people are not buying them. I am actually wanting to get a prius in the very near future, glad if they are built in MS

It would be better for them to produce hybrids, based on the change in that market. Gas guzzlers are no longer wanted. That would be a great product adjustment.

Long time no hear chimpie, what you up to now days? Oh, and yes, it is officially all over the news here. We hear the plant will push back production till the fall of 2010 in order to make sure they are ready.

Hey Hey Aiangel,

Long time no hear, but I'm still paying attention to the news.

While I fully support Toyota, Blue Springs and the surrounding communities I don't think I'll be making the move there. The employer I was hoping to hook up with failed to get back to me. :-( No big deal, just kind of strange.

Don't worry though, I won't be a stranger to this section of City-Data.

Nope I love it here. Working at Toyota again would be great. I worked at the Indiana plant for three years (security/fire/ems) and loved every minute of it. I was in contact with the MS guys but I haven't heard anything from them in awhile. This could be because of the delays or that I scared them off. LOL I'm not sure which.
