Default moving to clinton

Hi,

It is official, we will be in Clinton, Raymond area in the fall! So, now the nuts and bolts of the move

Our plan is to rent for a year or so, until we get an idea of where we really want to live. What we want to finally end up with is a place with a few acres for some animals, but rather than jump into that we want to rent for a year to get our bearings and figure out the best location, etc.

Can anyone help us with a real estate agent(s) that have rentals in the Clinton, Raymond area. I will be travelling regionally, and while my office will be in Raymond, I don't know how much time I will be spending there. We are not opposed to any safe nice areas of Jackson either.

MY wife has not had any luck trying to contact some folks we saw advertised on CL, so we were hoping that someone could help us out.

Thanks everyone, and I we will be seeing you guys soon!

MODERATOR: No specific realtors can be mentioned...sorry...

OP, try contacting the national companies that have property management companies in the area, or see if the paper is online and you can sort of look from there...maybe folks could give you ideas on areas if you find something promising.

I don't want to knock Jackson (my parents actually live there and I grew up there), but there isn't going to be much in Jackson that you should really consider. The nicer parts of Jackson are mostly not the parts near Clinton. If you are interested in Jackson, the Raymond Road area that is nearer to Springridge Road is nice. I think it may technically be Byram. Most of Clinton is nice, though there are a few areas that are less so, but I think it's kinda obvious when you see it as to which parts are nice or not. Raymond is a nice, quiet area without a lot going on. There is a community college there. Clinton Raymond Road connects the two towns. Some of the areas on I-20 headed toward Vicksburg are nice and rural. The best school district is likely to be Clinton. Springridge road south of Raymond Rd is a beautiful, rural area. Lots of ponds, farm-type estates, and horses.

If you're visiting the area, make sure to check out the Natchez Trace. If you go south from Raymond, Rocky Springs campground has a great little area for hiking or wading in the stream. There's a little old church and cemetery you can look around.

The Jackson paper is called the Clarion Ledger and has a good on-line site.
