Default Let me clear this up....

See post #114 by dolphinsfan.....He said something about the racism in MS. being ridiculous. I replied to it. I am talking about the area I live in and what I've observed. To clarify, we are from Norfolk Virginia. Lots of all races there. Sure there is racism, but it really isn't noticeable. That is all. It is just my opinion. Everyone has there own opinion. I don't know why some of you get all bent out of shape over what I said. On the flip side, there are some very nice friendly folks down here. Everyone waves and is friendly for the most part. People up North are stuck up. There I said something bad about Northerners.

I don't recall getting into any particular shape, much less bent. I also don't know what I said that would invite such a response from you. Given that you seem to feel attacked here and are replying too everyone pretty much the same way, may I suggest "it's not me, it's you?"

Seriously. Just chill a little, I didn't see anyone here attack you. Or do you consider any form of disagreement and attack?

Chill al ittle then think again and answer my quuestion. You say "people up there" never used the n word (god I hate sayign that it's so freaking juvenile) but "whaites down here think nothing of saying it." I have friends who do and I know many more who obviously think it but don't speak it. I don't say it unless I'm having a conversation like this and I'm white... but more improtantly, there's obviously racism everywhere. If "people" are open and recognize one another's race but don't ber any particular feeling toward a race one way or another, is that really worse than a place where people DO tend to harbor feelings of ill will based on racial issues but simply don't talk about it?

There's two kinds of ignorance. Both do harm, but I know which I'd rather live with. Back stabbers are the worse.

Default It wasn't you poptones

Actually it was Jacksonian assuming that I was speaking for the whole entire state. Which I obviously wasn't. That would be impossible. Just my little corner here. Of course people are racist everywhere. But I promise you I have never heard whites refer to blacks like they do here. I find it strange. That's all. Just my observation.

OK, well keeping with the topic AND your nick, I'd like to know where blueman fan got his picture taken? I often take the train to chicago and I've been planning forever to go see the group performing there. Did you see them in Chicago? If so can you offer any insight on what might be the best seating area?

Like I said: I've left a buncha times. The thread title doesn't say anything about not returning. While a vacation isn't technically a move, I don't care cuz I really freaking like BMG.

I think that one is from the Orlando venue. Go see them! They are a ton of fun...very entertaining! I've never seen them in Chicago. I've been to 3 of the Megastar concerts, New York twice and Orlando twice. Hands down the front and center is the best seating! The past two years we went to a Monster Meet in Orlando. We got to have a private meeting with the band and performers. It was great! I'll have to post more pics. You've got good taste!

Vicksburg has a lot of character and diversity. It is a mixture of historic and gritty-urban, situated on hills overlooking the Mississippi river. Streets with large historic homes alternate with streets with very modest and sometimes run-down homes. The outskirts of town are full of hardwood forests and rolling hills and dotted with newer houses and subdivisions. Vicksburg should be attractive to someone who likes the idea of small town full of history and diversity, a mixture of ethnicities and socioeconomic status, old and new, war monuments and modern commercial retail - all seemingly mixed together. The people are known for being extremely outgoing and friendly. Vicksburg does also have the Corp of Engineers based there which adds an interesting element to the community. And Vicksburg has beautiful wooded property around it for those who wants some acreage, with trees, hills, and lakes.

My husband and I had businesses in MS. We moved away and back to a very large city out of MS to save our children. We were not from MS, but were lured there with promises for a great business potential. MS teachers who were born, raised and schooled in ms are teaching MS. Look at the school statistics. They have been given FAILING grades/reports. No entertainment, last for everything. A lot of docs go to med school there (only one in the state) go to residency there and practice there. Teachers go to msu or ole miss and then teach there. It is called inbreeding. I have lived on the East Coast, large metropolitan areas and my husband and I went to some of the best universities around. A lot of the physicians in MS are not even board certified. I actually know people that had "tea leaves read" to find out the sex of their baby. I am not kidding. And the sad thing is that the people that live there don't seem to think there is anything wrong with being about 70 decades behind everyone else or doing things so far off the norm , but believing that their way of things is normal. If you tell someone how bad the schools are and have the state test scoes to prove it, they will say, well my child went to public schools and she did just fine. Then you find out her child actually went to the local community college and flunked out and now can't get a job. I was sick of feeling like I was in the twilight zone. Once we moved , people in our new city ask us how it feels like to be back in civilization and how could you stand to live there??? But people in MS seem to be oblivious to all of this.

I just saw brickpatios reply. Look up the crime rate, the dwindling population and all statistics school , growth/business rate or lack of it and decide for yourself. If you want to buy a large home with plenty of property there is a lot to choose from.... because a lot of people are getting out.
