What do you like about Long Beach?
For those of you who live or have taken a vacation in Long Beach, MS, what do you like about it?

It's a quiet family community, away from the razzle dazzle of the casinos, but close to activities if you want to get somewhere else. It's centrally located.

The Sheriff and I have the same name. I am trying to think of the little sandwich shop with the palm tree that was kinda tucked in off the beaten path we used to eat at.. it had great food. I lived real close to Long Beach.. Just above the Sea Bee Base, I used to visit there often.. it is a nice community.

I remember the Long Beach of my childhood - the beautiful houses, the quiet neighborhoods...haven't been back since pre-katrina. It would probably make me cry. Did LB suffer as much as Gulfport?

Worse in some areas.
As you go west across the gulf coast, the Katrina damage worsens. They are rebuilding, but many of the old gorgeous homes on the beach are gone forever. It broke my heart the first time we went back to visit family.

That's awful. We lived on the west side of Gulfport not far from long beach. Wish I could get back there!
