Default Question about Raymond-Jackson MS

Hello people. I'm planning to move to the Jackson, MS metropolitan area but I want to live in a suburb. I'm wondering what's the best one for
"Distance" commuting to downtown Jackson area each day. For instance
if I live in Raymond--how would the drive be to Jackson? (I'm talking length and access to downtown Jackson). ALSO PLEASE TELL ME...if you had to build a house in the suburb but wanted quick access to downtown Jackson, where would you move to? I love Canton, but on my computer, it looks like a very far commute. THANKS.

Claude depending on exactly where in Jackson you will be working Raymond may only be 5-10 minutes closer, if that. I would rather travel a few extras minutes and live where I love. I live in Raymond. I like it. It is a small quiet area. Close to many things in central MS. Low crime index. Many nice buildable lots off Wells Rd. by hwy 18. I would consider Clinton too if you decided on this area.

Thanks for the tip about Wells Rd. I am going to be working in DOWNTOWN Jackson near the Deli on Amite Street. How far of a
commute would that be from a house on Wells Rd. HWY 18? Is
that in the 10 to 15 minute frame??

About 25 minutes travel time. Flowood is closer. Honesty I would use MLS to find the land or property that I wanted and not worry about + or - 10 minutes travel time. Great deals are around on existing houses with 5+ acres for around 160-180k or less. That will be hard to beat with new construction.

Default Moving

I've lived in Ms most of my life and it's not big.... most placing take about 15-20 to commute at the most. Now canton is pretty far but it's a straight shot on the interest. Raymond isn't too far but if you are considering not living in the center of Jackson because you want the quietness maybe consider Brandon,Flowood,Pearl but it really depends on where on you work downtown. If you need me to get some information on some good areas just send me an email and I'll get that for you.

Moderator cut: sorry . no private e mail address, but ask someone to PM you through this board instead

Hi Claudia, I'm in real estate in that area. Raymond is in fact a very nice town with lots to offer. I understand your main concern is commute but I would also take into account my long terms goals if I were you. i.e. how long will you be living in this home, what are your feelings one neighborhood covenants, will you be looking for schools for your children, etc.

If I can be of assistance please let me know!
