I just went back home in dec. for a few days and I can say I missed it so much!!!
I am not shocked that the teen birth rate is high, sad yes but not shocked.
Our state still does not want to teach sex ed. are anything that would help our kids, so our girls have babies early in life and we the tax payer is the one stuck taking care of her. sad

Three is still some racism in Ms. but you know what? there is racism everywhere I have been so why Ms. is the one that everyone talks about I do not no.........but racism is everywhere not just home.

Is Ms. bad......no, Ms. has the most warm people and the coast and do not forget our food!!

I don't see why it would get deleted. The study directly mentions that the reason for Mississippi's high teen birth rate is a high minority population.

ATLANTA - Mississippi now has the nation’s highest teen birth rate, displacing Texas and New Mexico for that lamentable title, a new federal report says. Mississippi’s rate was more than 60 percent higher than the national average in 2006, according to new state statistics released Wednesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The teen birth rate for that year in Texas and New Mexico was more than 50 percent higher.
The three states have large proportions of black and Hispanic teenagers — groups that traditionally have higher birth rates, experts noted.

I love Mississippi. I am from Arkansas and if we did not have Mississippi we might be dead last in every category...so hats off to Mississippi. Oh right now I think we are number 2 in divorces behind Nevada...please help us out with that. There is saying in Arkansas..."We may live in Arkansas, but at least we don't live in Mississippi."

I am just having fun. There are a lot of pretty places in Mississippi. I love Oxford.

The constant banging away with statistics became so tiresome and old years ago. I grew up in MS. and I've heard them my entire life. There's far more to any place than where it falls on a statistical chart. In other words: who cares about this anymore!

Joke or not, I don't have any good humor left about this.

I haven't seen that much of Mississippi, but I did almost attend Ole Miss. I wish that I did. I was there for 4 days of pre-college and found a beautiful campus, and people who were equally beautiful, kind, and well mannered. Anyone who has questions about Mississippi should visit Oxford!

Is it true that they dont teach sex ed at schools there? If not no wonder there is a high pregnancy rate.

I got it at HS and it never done me any harm.

Well there you go. I don't know if they teach sex ed or not in Arkansas, but due to the fact that "sex" is in the phrase probably not...maybe Little Rock.

Now I know what I need to do. Start a petition to have them quit teaching it in Mississippi, what are those people thinking sex ed in school, those liberal communist in Mississippi. Maybe you guys will catch up with us then.

Hmm, to me that is alarming. Why are these places to "behind" not meaning to be rude but every place needs to move ahead, even such an ancient country like Scotland, we done it.
