California also has alot of people. And there is a big health-conscious culture in California, which I fail to find in the South.

From what I experienced of California, I'd have to say that the lauded health-consciousness stems more from a humanistic culture of self-centeredness. You're right, that doesn't seem to be the prevailing attitude in the South.

Based on pop. figures and %obese, Calif has 8,490,789 obese people. Mississippi has 928,603 obese people. If I was going to make it my goal to solve the obesity problem in the USA, I wouldn't start in Mississippi.

I have lived in Mississippi almost my whole life. It's absolutely gorgeous.

But the racism is not getting any better and peple still believe and follow the same things their parents have pushed on them.

The Coast is lovely, and if I had a choice, I would move there.

I have to disagree about the racism. I know it is still pretty bad in some parts of the states, but it is better in other parts. I was thinking about that when I was in church Sunday and I noticed that about half of the congregation was African American. That wouldn't have happened a few years ago.
