Default Starkville - housing market

Moving to the area for new job. Trying to decide between starkville or columbus to buy home. Like Starkville best, but it appears that things sell pretty quickly and few choices on the market. Could anyone give me their insight as to how the market works in Starkville. Looking for housing in the 200,000 - 400,000 range.

thanks

I guess maybe I need to restate the information I am looking for. When a house is listed, is their much competition for it? How close or far off list price do homes sell for? What is the deal with the foundation issues on homes in central MS? Why is their so little new construction in Starkville?
Would Columbus be a better investment than Starkville?

I can answer a couple of your questions. First, there are foundation issues with some homes in that area. Starkville is located on what we call the "prairie", which has unstable clay soil. Footings have to be dug a lot deeper than normal.

Most of the new construction in Starkville seems to be apartments/townhomes, even though there is already an overabundance of those types of dwellings.

Starkville is still a better investment than Columbus, since it is the home of a major university.
